About us
Hi, my name is Mrs. Kelly. Since I can remember, I have had a passion for helping others and working with kids. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences at New Mexico State University in 2000. Then I had my first child. After working in early childhood as a director for a daycare, I decided to get my teaching certification. In 2001, I got my Special Ed K-12 alternative teaching certificate, and in 2003, I had my second child. Then I taught throughout the Austin Independent School District for 10 years.
In 2015, I discovered the wonderful world of robotics and STEAM education. Then, I founded my own business inspired from the principals that use robotics as a tool for teaching children about STEAM. Since then, I’ve had the honor of sharing my business with educators and students all around Austin, Texas, and its surrounding areas. I’ve created programs for students in K-5th grade that utilize my favorite approach to learning: STEAM. I work with a team of skilled educators to bring these programs to local students in and around Austin, TX. Best part? We have fun and get to play with LEGOS®. These programs allow me to combine my love of making a difference with my favorite approach to learning.
STEAMWorks is a family ran business, with my daughter, son, and mother being a large part of our process. My son and daughter teach classes and help with marketing and administration. My mother, who has been a teacher for more than twenty years, also helps with administration details. We all have a shared interest and passion to educate kids and make a difference. We work together to bring the STEAM educational experience to local central Texas communities.
