What do you do?
Our after-school programs are designed to be hands-on, creative, and structured with weekly challenges. Expectations vary slightly based on the program your child is enrolled in:
-
K-5
Students work in pairs using LEGO® Spike Essential, Prime, or other robotics kits, assigned based on their skill level.
Robotics builds that grow in complexity as students progress.
Beginner-friendly block and scratch coding to introduce core programming concepts.
All materials provided, including iPads, robotics kits, and building supplies.
Mixed K–5 groups, with projects scaled by age and ability — we have kits suitable for complete beginners all the way through high-school-level challenges.
Free build time at the start of each class to encourage creativity, exploration, and give students a fun activity as they arrive.
-
2nd-5th
Intro to drone safety & basic flight rules
Students practice hovering, takeoff, landing & controlled turns
Obstacle courses + skill-building challenges
Indoor flight
Repeater paths for returning students (advanced flight skills)
All drones + equipment provided
-
Teacher brings them to us
Warm up activity

We use positive reinforcement, small-group support, and clear expectations to create a safe and encouraging learning environment. Our instructors are background-checked and trained in STEAM learning, safety protocols, and age-appropriate guidance.
FAQs
-
Nope!
You can sign up for Session 1, Session 2, or both — whatever timing works best for your family. We structure our sessions this way to give families maximum flexibility. Students can join at any time without missing anything, and each session includes new builds and activities.
This also gives students the opportunity to grow at their own pace and move through different kits and skill levels as they’re ready. -
Most classes meet once a week for 1 hour and 20 minutes. A few campuses run 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes based on their school schedules.
Most schools offer 6-week sessions, and a few offer 5-week sessions. Details vary upon locations.Session 1 and Session 2 are both open for registration. There’s no set order, so families can sign up for either one or both. Each session offers 5–6 weeks of new projects designed so students can jump right in at any time.
Please note that Session 2 spots can fill quickly, so we recommend registering early if you plan to continue. We also offer Winter Break and Summer Camps between sessions.
-
Our programs are open to:
• LEGO Robotics: K–5th grade
• Drone Discovery: 2nd–5th grade
Mixed-age groups work great because projects are scaled for ability and experience.
-
Perfect — no experience is needed. We start with beginner-friendly builds or flight skills and grow week by week.
-
Returning students get advanced projects, upgraded kits, and repeater challenges, so there’s always something new.
-
Yes. Our classes often fill within days. Registration is first come, first served, so we recommend signing up early.
If a session is full, you’re welcome to join the waitlist, and we’ll contact you as soon as we can if a spot becomes available.
-
If the school is closed or has an early dismissal, class will not meet. Session dates and “no class” days are listed under each school.
-
Nope! We provide all materials, iPads, drones, and supplies for class.
Students are welcome to bring a water bottle and an after-school snack if they need one.
(We do not provide snacks.)*Please avoid nuts if possible!
-
We can’t offer individual makeup days, but don’t worry — our program is designed so students can easily pick up where they left off. They won’t be behind or lost when they return.
-
At the end of the school day, school staff bring students to our classroom, where our instructors take attendance and begin class.
After class, we will:
Walk students to their school’s aftercare program (if they are enrolled), or
Bring them out front for parent/guardian pickup
To help everything run smoothly, please:
• Notify us if your child attends aftercare or walks/bikes home, and
• Let your child’s teacher know they’re attending our class that day. We also email the school, but an extra reminder helps ensure dismissal goes smoothly.
-
We set clear, age-appropriate expectations at the beginning of each session so students know what to expect and feel set up for success. Our goal is to make the class work for everyone — we want all students to be learning, engaged, and having fun.
To support this, we use a simple, positive three-step system:
First reminder: a gentle verbal redirect
Second reminder: a quick pause from the activity and a stamp removed
Third reminder: we speak with a parent/guardian at pickup
We always focus on helping students reset and rejoin the activity. If a child continues to struggle or becomes consistently disruptive over multiple weeks, we may discuss next steps with families to make sure the class is a good fit and that every student can thrive.
-
Yes! All instructors complete fingerprinted background checks and receive training before teaching. We hire team members who are responsible, supportive, and great with kids, and who bring genuine enthusiasm to STEAM learning. Your child will always be supervised by caring, trained adults in a safe environment.
-
Students typically work in partners or small groups for most of our robotics and engineering activities. Partner work teaches teamwork, communication, and problem-solving — important skills in STEAM learning.
If your child prefers working alone or needs help with social interactions, just let us know! We’re happy to support them and adjust as needed.
-
We are happy to support students who have allergies, accommodations, or unique learning needs. We really do our best to make it work for everyone, so please share any important information during registration or send us an email before class begins so we can prepare and support your child. Sharing this information helps us keep your child safe and ensures we can create a positive, successful experience for them in our program.
STEAMWorks is a hands-on, group-based environment, so some students may need more support than we can provide in an after-school setting. If challenges come up, we’ll talk with families so we can find the best plan together.
